The Old Egg Shed sits on the edge of the family’s farm near the village of Whitstone, which is just one mile away, where there are some beautiful walks. Whitstone has a village shop, which sells local produce, ideal for any forgotten items or simply a morning paper. The Saxon village of Week St Mary is just two miles from The Old Egg Shed, and you are just five miles inland from Widemouth Bay beach, perfect for surfing, swimming and beach fun. Bude town is seven miles away, where you will find the main supermarkets, smaller specialist shops, eateries, coffee shops and many recreational activities.

There are plenty of pretty walks in and around the village of Week St Mary. Enjoy the circular walk through Ashbury woods, beneath the Iron Age fort, to the remains of a medieval manor of Penhallam, which was only discovered in the 1960’s, returning via Week St Mary church.
